PAULINE'S WHIMS

Some brands are born from a lengthy business plan, others from a happy accident.

Les Caprices de Pauline was born from a conversation.

At that time, Pauline was developing her first collection of candles under the name Maison Arcane. Curious to better understand her world, Laurent, a store manager in Toulouse, asked her a thousand questions. Where did her ideas come from? Why tarot? Why these scents? How could he tell his customers who entered his store about her work?

Pauline spoke about her inspirations as they came to her. Ideas followed one another, mingled, took unexpected turns.
After listening to her with amusement, Laurent burst out laughing: But Pauline... these aren't just ideas, they're whims! Pauline's Whims!

The phrase made everyone smile; and most importantly, it stuck.

At that moment, Pauline understood that she had found much more than just a name. She discovered an entire universe, where one has the right to imagine, to dream, to change one's mind, to follow one's gentlest, tenderest, and most spontaneous desires.

Les Caprices de Pauline then became a new adventure. A brand inspired by Les Malheurs de Sophie. From there, an imaginary world was born, filled with family homes, Wednesday afternoon snacks, antique cups taken from sideboards, blooming gardens, and those stories we loved to listen to or read before falling asleep.

For this first collection, Pauline chose four pastel-colored ceramic cups, decorated with floral and animal motifs, into which she poured soy wax previously mixed with a Grasse perfume.

Their story doesn't end there. Once the wax is fully burned, the container takes on a second life, ready to hold a hot drink: tea, herbal tea, hot chocolate...
Designed to last, these pieces become everyday objects to collect, thus forming a unique tea set, intertwined with everyone's memories.

The scents extend this invitation to slow down. The comfort of an Oat Milk, the enveloping softness of a Black Tea & Vanilla, the delicacy of a Jasmine Tea, or the gourmet spices of a Chai Latte evoke those timeless drinks shared around a lovely table, amidst confidences and laughter.

By creating these scented candles, Pauline recaptures the simple sensations of her childhood. The pleasure of setting out pretty cups, inventing imaginary snacks, playing tea party for hours without noticing time pass.

Even today, she creates each of her candles with that same emotion.

Les Caprices de Pauline is an invitation to rediscover that part of childhood we discreetly keep within ourselves: the prettiest whims are often those that become precious memories.
